it actually bends (warps) space around the ship which is in a bubble or normal space thus it can travel from place to place in the galaxy seemingly fast when really they just bent the fabric of space to save a ton of time.

if it bent the space inside the bubble then the ship/crew would be bent to! that just wont work!
